Border Security Alliance Awards House Majority Whip Emmer and Congressman Ciscomani Border Security Leadership Awards
Phoenix, AZ — The Border Security Alliance presented U.S. House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (MN-06) and Congressman Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06) with Border Security Leadership Awards during an event recently in Arizona. The awards honor leaders who go above and beyond to safeguard border towns, support law enforcement, and cut off the flow of deadly drugs like fentanyl into American neighborhoods.
“As we look at the challenges facing our nation’s northern and southern borders, we know that securing our communities requires continuous, persistent leadership—both on the frontlines and in the halls of Congress,” said Jobe Dickinson, President of the Border Security Alliance. “That is why we are proud to honor U.S. House Majority Whip Tom Emmer and Congressman Juan Ciscomani with Border Security Leadership Awards. Although illegal border crossings have dropped significantly over the past two years, both leaders are committed to providing the resources and manpower needed to address the criminal activity that remains along the southern and northern borders. We appreciate their continued leadership on these critical issues.”
Congressman Juan Ciscomani recently led the bipartisan BEST Facilitation Act to expand high-tech scanning at our ports of entry, championed Arizona’s elite Shadow Wolves and fought against the cartel’s recruitment of our youth.
"I am proud to be recognized by the Border Security Alliance for my leadership and work on border-related issues,” said Congressman Ciscomani. “Representing a border district in Arizona, I know firsthand the impact of failed border policies. I am proud of the solutions my colleagues and I have delivered in Congress to make border communities safer. But our work is far from done. We must continue to invest resources to stop criminal cartel activity and the flow of illicit drugs and products into our communities."
Additionally, U.S. House Majority Whip Tom Emmer shepherded the HALT Fentanyl Act through Congress to permanently classify lethal synthetic opioids as Schedule I substances and defended HIDTA task force funding for state and local law enforcement to ensure officers have the tools they need to stop transnational crime.
"Strong and effective border security keeps our families and communities safe whether you live in Arizona or Minnesota,” said Majority Whip Emmer. “Thanks to the work of House Republicans and leaders like Congressman Ciscomani, we’ve fully funded Border Patrol’s resources, personnel, and operations, and have brought illegal border crossings to virtually zero. We can never allow our nation to return to the dangerous, dark days of the Biden Border Crisis. Thank you to the Border Security Alliance for this recognition and their continued leadership on these issues."
The Border Security Alliance is a national coalition of current and former police chiefs, sheriffs, county officials, public safety leaders and policy experts focused on cross-border trafficking and illicit markets, including counterfeit goods, narcotics precursors and illegal vape products.
