BSA Statement Regarding The CLARITY Act

Phoenix, AZ — The Border Security Alliance remains opposed to the newest draft of the Clarity Act that was circulated this week ahead of a Senate floor vote. The provision that exempts crypto platforms from the current anti-money laundering rules banks follow was left untouched.

"We've read the new text and nothing has changed where it matters," said Jobe Dickinson, President of the Border Security Alliance. "Cartels are still moving billions in drug money through crypto with almost no one watching. If a local community bank must know its customers and report dirty money, a massive crypto platform should be held to the exact same standard. This bill still does not do that."

"These are not victimless loopholes," continued Dickinson. "Every gap in this bill is another way for cartels to launder fentanyl money and keep flooding our communities with poison. Rewriting the bill does not matter if the section that actually impacts cartels is untouched. Our senators should not fall for a paper fix. Vote no on the Clarity Act until this critical gap is closed."

Last month, BSA launched a digital ad to expose the same dangerous loopholes in the Clarity Act that still exist in the latest version. Watch the ad below:

My son Drew was 24 years old. He took one pill and it killed him.

The cartels that poisoned Drew moved billions of dollars in lethal drugs exclusively with cryptocurrency.

And right now, the United States Senate is making it easier for cartels to kill more American kids with a bill that will make it near impossible for law enforcement to find and catch these cockroaches.

Tell your senators, "Vote no on the Clarity Act."
